Europe's Caspian Research Team Arrives at Anzali

BANDAR ANZALI, Gilan Province A scientific delegation consisting of experts from Switzerland, Russia, Italy, the Netherlands and France aboard a research ship arrived here Wednesday as part of their mission of studying the ecosystem and environmental issues of the Caspian Sea. Didier Noirot, the photographer of the research team told IRNA here Thursday that the Caspian Sea has remained unknown to most of the world people, adding that the results of their research work would be made known to the world.

He added that during their recent visit to Russia and Azerbaijan Republic they performed a comprehensive research on caviare fish species and also on destructive effects of oil pollution on sea animals. Among their other objectives, he said, is to study the various bed resources of the Caspian Sea. He stated that their research ship is owned by France's Costeau Research Institute and their research work is carried out under the auspices of UNESCO. The Director General of the provincial Environment Department Shabanali Nezami told IRNA that the goal of international research delegation is to take photos of the Caspian Sea environment in a bid to reflect the realities of the Caspian littoral regions and sources to the world.
